Karbala is a city of domes and minarets of the old Iraqi cities dating back to the Babylonian era.
The history of the city and the killing of Imam Hussein bin Ali peace be upon him and his family valued the year 61 AH when became the city's religious status and become associated with this status. Some historians and its name has gone out that the name is derived from the word (Core Babylon), which is an ancient Babylonian villages group, and others argued that its name is derived from the (distress and affliction).
Located in the central region of Iraq on the eastern edge of the desert plateau west Farra T. River is located to the southwest of the province of Baghdad, a distance of 108 km.
