Lebanon is witnessing these days, race rapidly between escalation and calm, between going to the sectarian strife that may be developed to Israeli aggression, and the efforts to calm the by the parties to several Arab to contain the crisis and to prevent explosion, or at least postpone the explosion to gain more time to continue mediation efforts aimed at resolving the crisis.
Saw Damascus yesterday, three-way summit attended by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar and patron of the Doha agreement, along with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a summit coincided with the issuance of an indictment for the International Tribunal for the assassination of late Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.
Summit gave the first fruit in terms of postponement of the consultations carried out by Lebanese President Michel Suleiman to form a new Lebanese government, after the collapse of the Government of Saad Hariri, following the withdrawal of opposition ministers from them.
But it is still not known whether this summit will succeed in addressing the root of the crisis, the International Tribunal and the possibilities of directing blame at the elements of the 'Hezbollah' Lebanese involvement in the assassination.
The Lebanese crisis, much more complicated than imagined by many both inside and outside Lebanon, because the external parties and especially the United States and Israel do not want stability and understanding among the Lebanese parties, and put obstacles in the path of reconciliation and use of the International Tribunal as a pretext to criminalize the Lebanese resistance as a step to disarm, whether by force and conquest, or through political pressure, and perhaps civil war.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Lebanese resistance expressed awareness of the tangible and in-depth in this U.S. and Israeli targets when he said in his speech yesterday that he would not cooperate with the Tribunal, and will not accept a government formed by Mr. Saad Hariri and accept the terms of this Court dictates.
Indictment expected in a few weeks may be a detonator for the Lebanese crisis to that if the accused Hezbollah explicitly demanded the Lebanese government or Interpol to arrest accused of elements, it means blast crisis and the increasing likelihood of Israeli intervention.
Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Saudi foreign minister, who missed the three-way summit in Damascus, for reasons we do not know, said during his participation at a conference in Istanbul that the collapse of the Lebanese government and worsen the situation in this country may lead to the explosion of the entire Middle East. Does this mean that the Saudi prince does not know what others know about the U.S. plans, or scenario, the U.S. agreed upon between the Lebanese forces, local and other external on dealing with the Lebanese file?
Leaks that broadcast television station 'new' Lebanon, and have been detected in the recordings document the meeting, Mr. Saad Hariri, along with the international investigator Lehmann and perjurer Zuhair al-Siddiq, and accusing the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the assassination of his father and insulted by a number of significant figures of Lebanon and Syria and even Saudi Arabia in an unprecedented way , these leaks reveal the politicization of the Court and prior decisions, as it maintains a scenario which we have referred to the bombing of Lebanon and an end to the resistance at home.
Mr. Saad Hariri apologize formally for each of the affect on them in this tape, but what is required in our view more than apologizing, ie, to abandon his ambitions chronic survival as prime minister of Lebanon, and to take pause and national courage to give up on the inclinations of vigilante reprisals and rejection of the International Tribunal and its provisions for the interest of Lebanon and the whole region, and injected the blood of thousands or perhaps tens of thousands of victims that can be shed because of this Court.
Mr. Hariri's son to choose between going down in history as someone who made the interest of Lebanon to him and his family, or as prime minister contributed to or facilitated the destruction of this country. We hope that is the first choice, though difficult, for somebody who lost his father in a treacherous crime.
